Autumn 2 in Foundation One

We’ve had a lovely start to Autumn 2 in Foundation One, with a very busy first week celebrating Halloween and Bonfire Night. The children enjoyed playing in our bonfire role play area inside and learnt how to stay safe around fire. Because the children had been working so hard remembering our fire circle rules at Forest school we treated them to hot dogs cooked on a real fire – all the children behaved amazingly and we have already had requests from the children for more cooking on the fire at forest school – we had better get our chefs hats on as the children have said they would like soup, stew and pizza!

Our topic for the rest of the half term is called ‘Home Sweet Home’ with a big focus on Christmas and our performance coming up.¬† We are starting off our role play area as a bathroom, then moving onto a kitchen and then onto a very special living room dressed ready for Christmas. We will be¬†making poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day, taking part in National Nursery Rhyme week and hopefully taking part in our PTA’s enterprise project to make and sell items for the Christmas Fair before finally ending the year with our fabulous Christmas Party!

We love this half term and have lots of lovely activities planned for the children – keep looking at the website for more updates!

East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Visit

Wow! We have had a fantastic day with our parent governor, Richard, who came to talk to us about being a paramedic and what we could do in an emergency.

We learnt how to dial 999 and request help from an ambulance and then talked about ‘big accidents’ that need an ambulance and ‘little accidents’ that grown ups can deal with themselves at home or school.

Richard then showed us his kit bags that he carries in the Fast Response Vehicle with all the equipment that may be used to help us. We pretended that Katy had hurt her leg and Richard and the children checked her heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen and temperature before deciding that she just needed a bandage and some Calpol!

After this, we had lots of fun sitting in the Fast Response Vehicle and turning on the VERY loud sirens and lights before trying on the ‘mini’ paramedic uniforms and working as paramedics in our very own ambulance in the playground.

We finished our session with some colouring sheets with lots of emergency vehicles on them and then Richard read us a story all about an ambulance.

All the children behaved amazingly well and all joined in with the different activities, we are very proud of them!!

Take a look at all the fun we had in the photos below!

Big Al’s visit today

Big Al the attendance alligator came to see us today and chose the children who get to have a sleepover this week with Little Al.

And the winners this week are….

Well done boys, have a fab time with Little Al!!!
