Summer term 2

Welcome back to the final half term of the year. This half term we are going to be continuing our topic of The Enchanted Woodland and we started this off with a launch day. We made some African Rain Shakers, animal masks and learnt about our native flowers including drawing pictures of them. We are all really looking forward to our trip in July to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Welcome to Class 2RH

You’ll find us squirreling away in our room – Bec Houghton, Jayne Chippendale and Sophie Welch joining the team on a Thursday and Friday.

We are starting back with a new exciting topic – Myths, Magic and Mystery. The children have already started to explore this – making castles, dragons, finding out about Kings and Queens from the past and designing their own mythical creatures. Check out our launch day pictures below!

We have been reading ‘The Dragon Machine’ by Helen Ward and will be writing our own stories soon based on this amazing tale. The children are loving the book! Check out the story here:

Gainsborough Hall Trip

On the 23rd of May KS1 visited Gainsborough Hall. We had a fantastic time and the behaviour of the children was brilliant.

We were shown around the hall by some Tudor ladies who told us all about life in the Tudor times. We loved the kitchen!

The highlight of our day was a Tudor feast. We all had roles to play including the Royal party.

Henry VIII and his court

What a fantastic day!

Thank you to all the adults who came along to help us.

Hello and welcome to the new term!

Here is where you will find  information about everything we’ve been up to at school! It’s also a good place to check for links and tips to help out with our current topic.

Our teachers are Mrs Houghton and Mrs Wakefield. We also have the lovely Jayne helping us out.

Don’t forget to keep a check on our Dojo page to find out how it’s all going for the children  in our classroom.

This half term we are learning about SPACE. We are finding out about the planets in our solar system, their order from the sun and some facts about them. We are also learning about light and dark and the role of the sun.  We have recently been finding out about Van Gough, the artist that created ‘A Starry Night’.starry night
