Welcome back to the last half term of the school year.

Please find below our new newsletter.

Wild FlowersNewsletter2 – The Enchanted Woodland

The Enchanted Woodland

Hello and welcome back to the summer term! This year is flying by but we still have lots of learning and fun planned for the coming weeks.

Our new topic on your return is called ‘The Enchanted Woodland’ where we will learn all about habitats, plants and trees  (including planting our own flowers!) and much, much more.

We strongly encourage you to talk with your child about their learning and take them on nature walks and to the library so they have as much experience with creatures and critters as possible. Have a stroll through the woods and see if you can identify some trees and wild flowers, or hunt out some minibeasts. Use the sheets below to help you and most importantly, have lots of fun doing it!!

Dangerous Dinosaurs

Happy New Year!

Our new topic for the first half of spring term is called ‘Dangerous Dinosaurs!’ We will be learning all about where dinosaurs came from, which parts of the world they roamed and what they ate.

Tyrannosaurus Drip

As well as all of this we will be looking at the brilliant Julia Donaldson book ‘Tyrannosaurus Drip’ which tells the story of a Duckbill dinosaur born into a family of T-Rex. We will use this book to practise our writing skills including using conjunctions (and, but, or, so), using question marks and exclamation marks and also describing the setting of the swamp.

In science we will be learning about habitats and in maths we will be looking at graphs, money and time.

If you would like to know anything else, please do not hesitate to come in and see us!

Welcome Back!

Another half term has flown by and we are on the countdown to Christmas.

This half term our topic is called ‘Let’s Celebrate’ where we will be learning all about different festivals and special days from around the world. This will include learning about Diwali, Hannuka, Remembrance Day, Weddings, Guy Fawkes and of course, Christmas!!

Parent’s evening letters will be going out next week (week beginning 30th October) and times will be given on a first come first served basis. Therefore the quicker you hand in your letters, the more chance you have of getting the day and time you would prefer.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to come into class on Wednesdays or Fridays. You can also message over Dojos or see me BEFORE the bell goes every morning.

Bolsover Castle

We had a fantastic day at Bolsover Castle this week as part of our ‘Myths, Magic and Mystery’ topic. It was pretty breezy but the children enjoyed themselves. Here are just a few photos from our day…

Welcome back!

Hello everyone and welcome back to a brand new school year! I hope your children have a wonderful time in our class and enjoy every day.

Our first topic is ‘Myths, Magic and Mystery’ where we will be looking at castles, Kings and Queens, magical beasts, dragons and much more! Our class book is called ‘The Dragon Machine’ which the children are enjoying reading.

In our classroom we have the wonderful Karen who is our class Teaching Assistant along with Bev Mee who will also be supporting the children in our class. If at any time you need to speak with us, you can do so either in the mornings before the bell goes or at the end of the school day. You can also Dojo message me at any time, although I cannot guarantee I will reply back straight away after the school day has finished!

Sport’s Day

A HUGE well done to all the children for making me super proud during Sport’s Day. They showed superb behaviour and team spirit! Thank you to all the parents that could make it. I managed to get a least 1 photo of each child during the afternoon which I will print and hand out for you to  keep. Here is one of the entire class…

Topic Words

During our topic on ‘The Seaside’ we will be looking at lots of new words which the children will use both in their speaking and in their writing. It would be really useful if you talked about these words with your child and practised spelling them.

Here are the words that your child will see/use a lot of over the next few weeks:

ocean – sea – seaside – coast – sea creature – diver – diving – tide – wave – beach – pier – lighthouse – lifeguard
